PINK de Loudenne
2004 Bordeaux Rosé

AQUITAINE PRESSE SERVICE, June 24th 2005

F.LAFRAGETTE targets the 25/35 market and women
Taking advantage of Vinexpo, she launched two brand new products. The first one is a rosé, “PINK”, as a tribute to the Loudenne colour, “the Pink Château”. Trendy, punchy, it has been released for the 2004 vintage, 15,000 bottles of it have been produced and it has already been bought by some French restaurants […]

LOUDENNE SEES THE LIFE IN PINK

Operating out of Saint-Yzans De Médoc, Château Loudenne has been storming the French wine market with its Rose de Loudenne. Pink de Loudenne: like the rosé this is an innovative product created by Florence Lafragette.
Loudenne is like a charming chartreuse of pink stones. In the colour of the label: “Les Tours de Loudenne” shows a beautiful deep pink label.
“In the colour of wines” Florence Lafragette goes on, “Loudenne has always been atypical because the estate has also produced white wine for decades, which is very rarely the case in Médoc. Our wines reference local colours and gardens. Faced the increasing fame of the pink Château abroad, the idea of celebrating their surname was what gave birth to Pink de Loudenne. The Family Lafragette has always liked to play around with tastes and colours. But playing is not cheating. And if the labels seem to be well made, they are also worried about harmonising the packaging and the product. The special touch brought by Florence Lafragette is the oh-so-trendy packaging, her touch of fantasy, combined with rigorous attention to detail. […]

LA JOURNEE VINICOLE, 12 August 2005
Pink de Loudenne: a Bordeaux Rosé

Located in the heart of Bordeaux, Domaines Lafragette includes three estates: Château Loudenne, Château de Rouillac, and Château de l’Hospital. Domaines Lafragette have launched Pink de Loudenne in a spirit combining both tradition and innovation. This rosé with an unusual and provocative name targets urban aesthetes and cosmopolitan consumers. In fact, the name of this rosé in French evokes a sort of joyous abandon, maybe because its colour makes one think of wild adventures. Unabashedly reminiscent of the world of haute couture and fashion accessories, the elegant bottle has a long, slim label with a silver background. The wine itself is decidedly attractive as well, with a brilliant raspberry-red colour, a flavour reminiscent of freshly-crushed, tangy red fruit, and a delicious aftertaste. Cabernet Sauvignon provides beautiful balance on the palate. Festive and refreshing Pink de Loudenne symbolises the easy-going lifestyle at Château Loudenne. Made by "bleeding" vats of red wine, Pink de Loudenne is a subtle assemblage of grape varieties illustrating the estate's blending expertise. It is cold fermented (>22°C) in order to retain maximum fresh fruit aromas.

PLANETE VINS & SPIRITUEUX, Autumn 2005
Pink reflects a new spirit in Bordeaux

One frequently forgets that prior to the 18th century, Bordeaux wines were rosé, and called  "claret". Château Loudenne, which has one of the most beautiful terroirs in the Médoc, decided to revive and update this tradition. The classic Médoc grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot) are cold-fermented in order to provide this rosé with attractive red fruit aromas. The wine stays on the skins longer than a Provence rosé. It is "bled" from vats of red wine, which also accounts for its more intense colour and more concentrated aromas. Last, but not least, the packaging goes against the grain of traditional Bordeaux presentations. The elegant silver label and name "Pink" make this a trendy wine, with a great deal of style — ideally suited to urban aesthetes, sophisticated consumers, and people looking for authentic new products.
