SIX ESTATES HONOURED

For the third time, the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry have announced their "Best of Wine Tourism" awards. The ceremony was organised within the framework of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network, which consists of eight cities whose goal is to develop cooperation and exchanges with regard to the economy, universities, and culture.

There were 91 candidates this year, most of whom were from Bordeaux (because the competition is still largely regional to begin with). Twenty-two trophies were awarded in 6 categories. The purpose of the competition is to recognise the most innovative and original vineyard estates or establishments devoted to wine. A jury examined the various candidatures and read reports written by visitors who took care to remain anonymous.

Château du Grand Mouëys won the Golden "Best of Wine Tourism" award in the architecture category. Located in Capian, in the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, this 66-hectare estate belongs to the Bömers family, importers in Bremen, Germany. Château Loudenne (in the northern Médoc) won the gold medal in the accommodation category. This cru bourgeois supérieur features lovely grounds overlooking the estuary as well as a museum and regular exhibitions.
